School Days

Where has the time gone? The kids here are back in school, and I have much to make up for in lost blogging time.
The weather has cooled, the leaves are starting to change just a bit and fall off the trees, and I find myself waiting for a cup of hot cider. Fall is on the way. It's my favorite time of year.
We celebrate 3 birthdays in the fall here at our house. Our first one right around the corner!
Halloween is also right around the corner. This year's costume dilemma - Oompa Loompa vs. Princess. I vote for the Oompa Loompa!

March Blanket....posted in April!

Life's been busy since 'settling' into the new place. But I managed to get a blanket done!
This one went to my swap partner from Swap-Bot.com (you should really check that place out!)

I used Michael's Blushing Grannies pattern as well as some super soft Red Heart acrylic yarn.
I really enjoyed the pattern and loved the blanket's look. The pictures REALLY don't do it justice!

Not sure yet what THIS month's blanket will be... haven't started it yet! So many other projects to complete first.

Until then....

Crazy February

This month has been insane!
We've battled a 10 day flu for 4, packed up our entire home to move, had snow days, ice days and 2 hour delays, as well as a major science project due.
And yet we have made it through. I've even managed to make my Blanket of the Month goal and have photos to prove it!

I also managed to sneak in a few Amigurumis while we were all sick to cheer the girls up.

I call them my little Flu Bugs. They look deceptively friendly, but invade your system and knock you for a loop!

The blanket I chose for the month is from the Lion Brand website, and is called 'Barcelona Throw'

Now I didn't use the same exact colors they did, I used my on-hand equivalent as the point of this blanket-a-month deal is to de-stash my ridiculously enormous mountains - yes mountains- of yarn.
I also used a size smaller hook, and bordered it using all the colors of the blanket rather than just the two the pattern called for.

I have to say this is by far my favorite crochet project I have ever made. And I will be draping this over our chair in the new house!
Or maybe hanging it on the wall per the hubby's suggestion.

Either way here it is... Whaddya think?

Shades of Winter - My January Granny Blanket

My crochet goal for 2011 is to create 1 blanket a month. This month I chose a Granny Square theme. I finished this yesterday with 3 days to spare!

January is such a dreary month here. Lots of wintry skies and multiple colors and shades of  the season. It's only right this blanket be named 'Shades of Winter'.

Unlike Winter, this blanket is WARM!
